Studio VRM is a club racing team created by driver Roger Maeda. We compete in the Northeast region of the US, currently with a Honda Prelude with the Independent Motorsports Group

Our philosophy is to compete through smart planning and attention to detail where it matters most - all while staying within the "spirit of the rules." As it turns out, this sometimes leads us down some paths less travelled. We take all of it in stride and (when it works) in pride.

What's your Performance Index?

Usually, it's pretty tough adapting a race car to another series' ruleset. Fortunately for us, IMG's Performance Index car classing rules use a system that classes cars by the base chassis and the type of modifications you have on it.

They even a cool class calculator that you can stick your car's modifications into and calculate out where it's going to race.

As it is now, the Prelude is in IMG Performance Index 5. That puts us right in line with Todd Reid's Probe and some the faster ITA cars. With the right driver and some setup work, this should be a pretty competitive class for us.

Goodbye EMRA, Hello IMG

Well, that was good while it lasted. Due to some serious management issues and financial problems, it doesn't look like EMRA is going to survive the winter.

Fortunately for guys like us, the idea of clean, competitive racing isn't going anywhere. A group of dedicated drivers and volunteers in the area formed a new organization called the Independent Motorsports Group. The 217 Prelude will be back out again next year as an IMG Sprint Race car.

This means our new winter project will be tuning the chassis to the 2012 IMG ruleset. Stay tuned for details!
